By The Side Of The Road Chords & Lyrics - Misc Praise Songs

[VERSE 1]
[G]I've been traveling for Jesus for [C]most of [G]my life
Over hills and the valleys be[D7]low
I've [G]been tempted by the trials, the [C]trouble and [G]strife
But someday I'll be [D7]home with the [G]Lord

[CHORUS]
[G]In the shadow of this journey when [C]friends seem so [G]few
I have prayed for the Lord to be [D7]close
I [G]believe I heard him walking in the [C]cool of the [G]day
As I sit by the [D7]side of the [G]road

[VERSE 2]
[G]Just ahead is the sunset when [C]Jesus will [G]say
No more work in the vineyard for [D7]you
He will [G]rock me to sleep in the [C]cradle of [G]time
I will awake in the [D7]harbor of [G]love

[CHORUS]
[G]In the shadow of this journey when [C]friends seem so [G]few
I have prayed for the Lord to be [D7]close
I [G]believe I heard him walking in the [C]cool of the [G]day
As I sit by the [D7]side of the [G]road

[VERSE 3]
[G]Someday I'll cross the river in[C]side the home [G]gate
I may look back to earth here be[D7]low
I may [G]see a dear brother I've [C]known all the [G]way
Sitting down by the [D7]side of the [G]road

[CHORUS]
[G]In the shadow of this journey when [C]friends seem so [G]few
I have prayed for the Lord to be [D7]close
I [G]believe I heard him walking in the [C]cool of the [G]day
As I sit by the [D7]side of the [G]road
