I Took The Moon For A Walk Chords & Lyrics - Mark Erelli

[INTRO]
[Am] [D7] [E7] [Am]

[VERSE]
I took the [D7]moon for a [Am]walk last night [D]
It [Bm]followed be[G]hind like a [E7]still summer kite [D]
There [Am]wasn't a string or a tail in site [D]
When [Am]I took the [G#]moon for a [Am]walk

[VERSE]
I carried my [D7]flashlight [Am]just in case [D]
The [Bm]moon got [G]scared and [E7]hid its face [D]
But it [Am]peeked through the clouds, fragile as lace [D]
When [Am]I took the [G#]moon for a [Am]walk

[BRIDGE]
I [C]warned the moon
To [Em]rise a bit higher
So it [F]wouldn't get hooked
On a [C]church's tall [G]spire
While the [C]neighbourhood dogs
Made a [E7]train whistle choir
When [F]I took the moon for a [C]walk

[VERSE]
We tiptoed through [D7]grass where the [Am]night-crawlers creep [D]
When the [Bm]rust bellied [G]robins have [E7]fallen asleep [D]
And the[Am] moon called the dew, so the grass seemed to weep [D]
When [Am]I took the [G#]moon for a [Am]walk

[BRIDGE]
We [C]raced for the swings
Where I [Em]kicked my feet high
And i[F]magined the moon
Had just [C]asked me to [G]fly
Hand holding [C]hand
Through the [E7]starry night sky
When [F]I took the moon for a [C]walk

[VERSE]
Then as we went [D7]back, the moon [Am]kept me in sight [D]
It [Bm]followed me [G]home and it [E7]stayed there all night [D]
And it [Am]thanked me by sharing its sweet sleepy light [D]
When [Am]I took the [G#]moon for a [Am]walk
When I took the [G#]moon for a [Am]walk
