Calling America Chords & Lyrics - Electric Light Orchestra

[Bm]Somebo[A]dy...
[D]Told her that there was a [A]place like heaven
[Bm]across the water on a [G]747
[D]Yeah, we're living in
[Bm]in a [A]modern [D]world. [Bm] ...[A]

[D]And pretty soon she's really [A]got the notion
of [Bm]flying out across the [G]big blue ocean
[D]Yeah, we're living in
[Bm]In a [A]modern [D]world. [Bm] ...[G] ...[A]

[F#]Talk is cheap on [Bm]satellite
But [G]all I get is [Em]sta[C]tic
[F#]Infor[Bm]mation,
[F#]I'm still [Bm]here re[G]dial on auto[A]matic.

Calling A[D]merica (can't get a [G]message through)
Calling A[D]merica (that's what she [A]said to do)
Calling A[D]merica (that's where she [G]has to be)
Calling A[D]merica (she left a [A]number for me)
Calling A[A]merica.

[D]But I'm just talking to a satellite
Twenty thousand miles up in the sky each night
Yeah, we're living in
In a modern world.

All I had to do was pick up the phone
I'm out in space, trying to talk to someone
Yeah, we're living in
In a modern world.

She left a number I could call
But no one's there, no one at all
There must be something going wrong
That number just rings on and on.

Calling America (can't get a message through)
Calling America (that's what she said to do)
Calling America (that's where she has to be)
Calling America (she left a number for me)
Calling America.

Said she'd call when she'd been gone a while
Guess she's missing me across the miles
Yeah, we're living in
In a modern world.

Calling America (can't get a message through)
Calling America (that's what she said to do)
Calling America (that's where she has to be)
Calling America (she left a number for me)
Calling America,...
