Capo V (Original key F)

[C]I really like Christmas
It's senti[F]mental, I know, but I just really [C]like it
[C]I am hardly religious
I'd rather [F]break bread with Dawkins than Desmond Tutu, to be [C]honest
And yes, I have [G]all of the usual objections to consumer[G7]ism
To the commercialisation of an ancient re[F]ligion to the westernisation of a dead Palestinian
Press-ganged into selling Playstations and [C]beer
But I still really [G]like it [G6] [G7]

[C]I'm looking forward to Christmas
Though I'm not ex[F]pecting a visit from [C]Jesus
I'll be seeing my [G]dad
My [G7]brother and sisters, my [E7/F]gran and my [Am]mum
They'll be [Am/G]drinking white wine in the [Fmaj7/F]sun
I'll be seeing my [G]dad
My [G7]brother and sisters, my [E7/F]gran and my [Am]mum
They'll be [Am/G]drinking white wine in the[Fmaj7/F] sun [F]

[C]I don't go in for ancient wisdom
I don't believe [F]just 'cos ideas are tenacious it means they're [C]worthy
[C]I get freaked out by churches
Some of the [F]hymns that they sing have nice [Fm]chords but the lyrics are [C]dodgy

And yes I have [G]all of the usual objections
To the mis-edu[G7]cation of children who, in tax-exempt insti[F]tutions,
Are taught to externalise blame
And to feel ashamed and to judge things as plain right and [C]wrong
But I quite like the [G]songs [G6] [G7]

[C]I'm not expecting big presents
The old combi[F]nation of socks, jocks and chocolate's is just fine by [C]me
Cos I'll be seeing my [G]dad
My [G7]brother and sisters, my [E7/F]gran and my [Am]mum
They'll be [Am/G]drinking white wine in the[Fmaj7/F] sun
I'll be seeing my [G]dad
My [G7]brother and sisters, my [E7/F]gran and my [Am]mum
They'll be [Am/G]drinking white wine in the[Fmaj7/F] sun

And[Fadd2] you, my baby girl my j[C/E]etlagged infant daughter
You'll be [Dm7]handed round the room like a [G11]puppy at a primary school
And [Fadd2]you won't understand but [C/E]you will learn someday
That whe[Dm7]rever you are and whatever you face
[G11]These are the people who'll make you feel s[E7]afe in this [Am]world [Am/G]
My sweet blue-eyed [Fadd2]girl

And[Fadd2] if my baby girl when you're [C/E]twenty-one or thirty-one
And [Dm7]Christmas comes around and you [G11]find yourself nine thousand miles from home
You'll [Dm7]know [C/E]what - [F]e - [Am]ver [G]comes
Your [G7]brothers and sisters and [E7/F]me and your [Am]mum
Will be [Am/G]waiting for you in the[Fmaj7/F] sun
Girl when Christmas [G]comes
Your [G11]brothers and sisters, your aunts and your uncles
Your grandparents, cousins and [E7]me and your [Am]mum
We'll be [Am/G]waiting for you in the [F]sun
[C/E]Drinking white wine in the [Dm7]sun
[G11]Darling, when Christmas [F]comes
We'll be [C/E]waiting for you in the [Dm7]sun
[C/E]Drinking white wine in the [F]sun
[C/E]Waiting for you in the [Dm7]sun
[G11]Waiting...

E--5--3--1-
[C] [F] B--6--5--3- [C]
I really like Christmas it's sentimental, I know...

This is a beautiful song to both listen to and play along to, however, being that it is the key of F, it is
hard work on the wrist, as you'd know, to play constant barre chords. So I decided to transpose what I had
worked out using a capo in the 5th fret. I stole this idea from Tim himself as there is a YouTube video of
him performing this song with Brian Cox on piano and Tim on guitar using a capo.

I find it much more enjoyable to play along to this way. Hope you enjoy. Please let me know if there's
anything you think might be wrong with it as I'm always grateful for constructive critisism. Cheers!
