[INTRO]
[B] [A6] [B] [Eadd9] [Amaj7] [B] [A6] [Eadd9]
[VERSE 1]
[B]The first to put a simple truth in [A6]words
Binds the [B]world in a feeling all famil[Eadd9]iar
'Cause [Amaj7]everybody owns the great i[B]deas
And it f[A6]eels like there's a big one round the c[Eadd9]orner
CHORUS: (same chords as first verse)
An[B]tenna up and out into New [A6]York
Some[B]where in all that talk is all the an[Eadd9]swers
And [Amaj7]oh, my giddy aunt, New York can t[B]alk
It's the [A6]modern Rome where folk are nice to [Eadd9]Yoko
[VERSE 2]
[B]Every bone of rivet steel
Each [A6]corner stone and angle
Jenga [B]jut and rusted water tower
[Eadd9]Pillar post and sign
Every [Amaj7]painted line and battered ladder[B] building in this town
Sings a [A6]life of proud endeavour and the [Eadd9]best that man can be
[VERSE 3]
[B]Me I see a city and I h[A6]ear a million voices
Planning, d[B]rilling, welding, carrying their [Eadd9]fingers to the nub
Reaching [Amaj7]down into the ground
Stretching [B]up into the sky
Why?
Be[A6]cause they can
They did and do
So [Eadd9]you and I could live together
[B] [A6] [B] [Eadd9] [Amaj7] [B] [A6] [Eadd9] [B]
[CHORUS]
Oh my god, New York can [A6]talk
Some[B]where in all that talk is all the a[Eadd9]nswers
[Amaj7]Everybody owns the great i[B]deas
And it f[A6]eels like there's a big one round the c[Eadd9]orner
[B] Oh my god, New York can [A6]talk
Some[B]where in all that talk is all the a[Eadd9]nswers
[Amaj7]Everybody owns the great's i[B]deas
And it [A6]feels like there's a big one round the [Eadd9]corner
[B] Oh my god, New York can [A6]talk
Some[B]where in all that talk is all the ans[Eadd9]wers
[Amaj7]Everybody owns the great's i[B]deas
And it [A6]feels like there's a big one round the c[Eadd9]orner
The [B]desire in the patchwork [A6]symphony
The d[B]esire like a distant [Eadd9]storm
For [Amaj7]love
Did it [B]come from me
'Cause it [A6]feels like there's a big one round the [Eadd9]corner
[B] Oh my god, New York can t[A6]alk
Some[B]where in all that talk is all the an[Eadd9]swers
[Amaj7]Everybody owns the great i[B]deas
And it f[A6]eels like there's a big one round the c[Eadd9]orner
OUTRO:
[B] The way the day[A6] begins
[B] Decides the shade of e[Eadd9]verything
[Amaj7] But the way it ends depends on if you're [B]home
For [A6]every soul a pillow and a [Eadd9]window, please
In the m[A6]odern Rome where folk are nice to [Eadd9]Yoko
[B] [A6] [B]
//////
And that's it. It's a really nice simple song and one of Elbow's best, in my
opinion. I think this tab is pretty accurate but there might be some mistakes in
the timing of chords but it's not too difficult to figure out.
Thanks. :)
