I Loved Her First Chords & Lyrics - Heartland

Capo 2

Intro chords:
[D] [Hm] [G] [G/F#] [Em] [A]

[D]Look at the two of you[Hm]dancin' that way
[G]Lost in the[G/F#]moment and[Em]each other's[A]face
[D]So much in love, you're[Hm]alone in this place
Like there's[G]nobody[G/F#]else in the[Em]world[A]

[D]I was enough for her[Hm]not long ago
[G]I was her[G/F#]number one,[Em]she told me[A]so
And she[D]still means the world to me[Hm]just so you know
So be[G]careful when[G/F#]you hold my[Em]girl[A]

[PRE-CHORUS1]
[Hm]Time changes everything,[G]life must go on
And I'm[D]not gonna stand in your[A]way

[CHORUS]
I loved her[D]first, I held her[Hm]first
And a place in my[G]heart will[G/F#]always be[Em]hers
From the[A]first breath she[D]breathed when she first smiled at[Hm]me
I knew the[G]love of a[G/F#]father runs[Em]deep[A]
And I[Em]prayed that she'd[D/F#]find you[G]someday[G/F#]
But it's[Em]still hard to[D/F#]give her[A]away
I loved her[D]first

How could that beautiful woman with you
Be the same freckled-face kid that I knew
The one that I read all those fairytales to
And tucked into bed all those nights

[PRE-CHORUS2]
And I knew the first time I saw you with her
It was only a matter of time

[CHORUS 1X]

Fiddle

From the first breath she breathed
When she first smiled at me
I knew the love of a father runs deep
Someday you might know what I'm goin' through
When a miracle smiles up at you
I loved her first
Ooh, ooh
