Trying To Get To Heaven Chords & Lyrics - David Bowie

Capo II

The [G]air is getting [A]hotter [G]
There's a rumbling in the [D]skies
[G]I've been wading through the high[A] muddy water
With the [G]heat rising through my [D]eyes
[Bm]Every day your memory grows [G]dimmer
[E]It doesn't hurt me like it did be[D]fore
[G]I've been walking through the [A]middle of nowhere
[G]Trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door

[G]People on the [A]platforms[G]
Waiting for the [D]trains
[G]I can hear their hearts a-[A]beatin'
Like [G]pendulums swinging on [D]chains
[Bm]When you think that you lost every[G]thing
You find [Em]out you can always lose a little [D]more
[G]I'm just going down the [A]road feeling bad
[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door
[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door
[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door

[D]Ooo[G]h [F]Ooh ooh [G]ooh [D]ooh

[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door
[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door

[G]I'm going down the [A]river[G]
Down to New Or[D]leans
[G]They tell me everything is gonna [A]be all right
But I [G]don't know what "all right&q[D]uot; even means
[Bm]I close my eyes and I [G]wonder boys
[E]If everything is as hollow as it [D]seems
[G]I been to Sugar Town, I [A]shook the sugar down
[G]Now I'm trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door
[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door
[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door
[G]Oo[A]oh [G]trying to get to heaven before they [D]close the door . . .
