INTRO: [G]

#1.
He [G]used to sing his [Am]songs to his [Bm]Sara [Am]Jane..
the [D]folk [G]singer.
[G]His songs filled with [Am]love made the [Bm]mountains [Am]ring..
the [D]folk [G]singer.
At [C]first Sara Jane was to [Bm]be his bride..but [Am]as his
fame grew she was [G]pushed aside.
[G]So, the mountain [Am]girl would [Bm]say good-[Am]bye..to the [D]folk
[G]singer.

#2.
He [G]let his hair grow [Am]long and he [Bm]dressed in [Am]style..the
[D]folk [G]singer.
[G]His voice was [Am]pure and his [Bm]fans went [Am]wild..for the [D]folk
[G]singer.
He [Am]said, Sara Jane was [Bm]much too plain..so, he [Am]left her alone
as [G]gained more fame.
But [Am]sorrow will come like a [Bm]mountain [Am]rain..to the [D]folk [G]singer.

#3.
[G#]Lavished in [A#m]glory, [Cm]fortune at his [A#m]feet..the [D#]folk [G#]singer..
awoke one [A#m]morning and he [Cm]couldn't [A#m]speak..the [D#]folk [G#]singer.
The [C#]doctor said his singing [Cm]days were through..[A#m]thousands wept,
Sara [G#]Jane did, too.
He could not [A#m]sing, now his [Cm]friends were [A#m]few..the [D#]folk [G#]singer.

#4.
[G#]Sick at [A#m]heart in the [Cm]mountains a[A#m]gain..the [D#]folk [G#]singer.
Now, Sara [A#m]Jane didn't [Cm]look so [A#m]plain..to the [D#]folk [G#]singer.
Oh, the [C#]power of love can [Cm]do strange things, cause [A#m]love has made
him [G#]sing again..only now he [A#m]sings for his [Cm]Sara [A#m]Jane..the [D#]folk [G#]singer.
And once a[A#m]gain the [Cm]mountains [A#m]ring..to the [D#]folk [G#]singer.
