The Drowned Girl Chords & Lyrics - David Bowie

[INTRO]
[Am7] [Am6] A6/9

[Em]Once she [Em9]had drowned and started her [Am7]slow descent
[Am7b5] [Em6] A6/9
Down the streams to where the great rivers broaden
Oh, [Em]the open[Em9] sky shone most mag[Am7]nificent
Am7b5b9 [A9] [Emaj]
As if it was acting as her body's guardian
[E7]Wreck and duck weed slowly [A9]increased her [Bm7b5]weight
By [Bm7]clasping her in their [Am7]slimy grip
Thr[E7]ough her limbs, the cold blooded f[A9]ishes [Bm7b5]played
Am7b5b9 [A9] [Emaj]
Creatures and plant life kept on, thus obstructing her last trip

[Em]And the[Em9] sky that same evening g[Am7]rew dark as smoke
[Am7b5] [Em6] A6/9
And its stars through the night kept the brightness still soaring
[Em]But it[Em9] quickly grew clear when [Am7]dawn now broke
Am7b5b9 [A9] [Emaj]
To see that she got one further morning
Once her [E7]pallid trunk had rotted bey[A9]ond re[Bm7b5]pair
It [Bm7]happened quite slowly that she gently [Am7]slipped from God's thoughts
Fir[E7]st with her face, then her hands, right[A9] at the last with h[Bm7b5]er hair
Am7b5b9 [A9] E6b5 [Em7] [E7] [A7] [Bdim]
Leaving those corpse---choked rivers just one more corpse
