Spike Drivin Blues Chords & Lyrics - Chris Knight

I m[D]usta been born

With steel in my hand
Probably gonna d[A]ie
A Spike Drivin' M[D]an

I[D] just lay the rail

I don't drive a train
But if it jumps the tra[A]ck
I'm gonna hear my na[D]me

T[D]rain master says

This train better roll
Gotta pull the big bo[A]ss's
cars of c[D]oal

S[D]o I work all night

In the pouring rain
I hate the train m[A]aster
And I hate his tra[D]in

T[G]rains roll on and on
Don't n[D]ever turn me lose
I t[Em]oss and turn all night long
Got the S[Cadd9]pike Dri[G]vin Blues[D]

O[D]n my way home

Train blocks the road
Always make me w[A]ait
Make supper c[D]old

T[D]hen me and my wife

Go to sleep in our bed
'Till the high ba[A]ll comes
And wakes the d[D]ead

[Repeat Chorus]
[BRIDGE]

U[D]sed to ride the caboose

Used to run the brake
'Till the bossman s[A]aid
that job aint' s[D]afe

N[D]ow I'm back on the rail

A hammer in my hand
I know I'm gonna d[A]ie
A Spike Drivin'[D] Man

[Repeat Chorus]
S[D]pike Drivin' Blues

Drive a man insane
I hate the train m[A]aster
And I hate his t[D]rain

**NOTE** Chris periodically plays a hammer-on with his middle finger on the D and A strings
at the 3rd fret - Listen to the recording, it's pretty easy to figure out.
