Patches Chords & Lyrics - Misc Unsigned Bands - Big John Khatt And The Highland Blues Band

INTRO: [G#7]

#1.
[C#]Down by the river that [F#]flows by the [C#]coalyards..
[C#]stand wooden houses with [F#]shutters torn [G#]down.
[C#]There lives a [Fm]girl every[F#]body calls P[C#]atches..
[C#]Patches, my darling, of [G#7]old Shanty[C#]town. [A7]

#2.
[D]We planned to marry when [G]June brought the [D]summer..
[D]I couldn't wait to make [G]Patches my [A]bride.
[D]Now, I don't [F#m]see how that [G]ever can [D]happen..
[D]my folks say, no, and my [A7]heart breaks [D]inside.

[CHORUS]
[D]Pat..[F#]ches, oh, [G]what can I [D]do'
[G]I swear I'll a[D]lways love you.
But a [G]girl from that place will just [D]bring me dis[Bm]grace..
so, [D]my folks won't [A7]let me love [D]you. [Bb7]

#3.
[D#]Each night I cry as I [G#]think of that [D#]shanty..
[D#]and pretty Patches there [G#]watching the [A#]door.
[D#]She doesn't [Gm]know that I [G#]can't come to [D#]see her..
[D#]Patches must think that I [A#7]love her no [D#]more. [B7]

#4.
[E]I hear a [G#m]neighbor [A]telling my [E]father..
[E]He says a [G#m]girl name of [A]Patches was [B]found..
[E]floating face [G#]down in that [A]dirty old [E]river..
[E]that flows by the [G#m]coalyards in [A]old [B]Shanty [E]Town.

[OUTRO]
[E]Pat..[G#]ches, oh, [A]what can I [E]do'
[A]I swear I'll a[E]lways love you.
It [A]may not be right but I'll [E]join you to[C#m]night..
[E]Patches, I'm [B]comin' to [E]you.

A sixties smash from Kraziekhat.
