[C]I'm down in [G]Mexi[F]co, [G]had to [F]go,
[C]Won't be [B]home no [C]more
I want mom and [G]dad to [F]know, I [G]miss and love them [F]so
[C]Though I'll never [G]see them any[C]more.
[C]The day that I turned t[F]wenty one I[G] could hardly w[C]ait
To say goodbye to m[F]om and dad and s[G]hake the hand of f[C]ate
Fate was with me f[F]rom the start, unt[G]il that fateful d[C]ay
A big man he took m[F]y sweetheart and I t[G]ook his life aw[C]ay.
[CHORUS]
I stood and watched the man as he fell
And then I heard the policemen's whistle blow
And when I thought about that prison cell
I thought about old Mexico.
